Malcolm X (1925 – 1965)
- Malcolm Little takes the nickname Malcolm X because he did not know his real name. Little was the name of the master of one of his slave ancestors,
- His father, already deeply involved in the black liberation movement, was killed by militants close to the Ku Klux Klan in horrible conditions,
- He condemns anti-white racism,
- He founded the Organisation for African-American Unity,
- After being the subject of many threats, Malcolm X is assassinated on February 21st, 1965 during a public speech by activists,
- Malcolm is published as a good student in high school,
- His teacher told him it was not realist for Malcom to become lawyer as his was a negro.
- From 1942 to 1946, Malcolm is arrested for drugs detention, prostitution, burglary and carrying guns.
- He uses newspapers, radio and television to spread his messages across the United States against segregation,
- Beginning 1964, he started to write his bibliography with Alex Haley,
- He undertakes many trips to Africa where he met many ambassadors, took part in receptions and gave lot of speeches,
- On his return to the United States from Africa, he was considered as a man to kill,
- After a lot of assassination attempts against him, he no longer moved without bodyguards,
- February 21st 1964, as he prepared to deliver a speech at a party in New York, three armed shot him with 15 bullets, leaving no chance of survival to Malcolm X. He is pronounced dead while being transported to hospital.
Still nowadays, he remains with Martin Luther King one of the most important black leaders in contemporary history.



The Martin Luther King’s day.

-Martin Luther King (1929 - 1968)
-A black man against segregation,
- When he was 39 years old, on the 4th April 1968, he has been killed by an offender. The death of Martin Luther King created a big emotion in the world...
-Every year, on the third Monday of January, the habitants of States celebrate the Day of Martin Luther King (he was born on the 5th January 1929 in Atlanta) in memory of his actions and to this tragic death.
-He was an adept of the nonviolence
-During 12 years, Martin Luther King had fought against racial segregation.
- He made himself known in Montgomery by organising a boycott of the city's bus company, guilty of tolerating segregation in his vehicles,
- On August 28th 1963, during a walk on Washington, Martin Luther King delivered his most famous speech to 250000 supporters: "I have a dream ...".
-The following year, in the presence of Martin Luther King, President Johnson signed a new law on civil rights ending all forms of discrimination,
-On October 14th 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Price. But his Movement is more and more in competition with violent groups like the Black Muslims (Malcolm X),
- At the Olympic games in Mexico, a few weeks after the death of Martin Luther King, black American champions raised their fists on the podium and turn their back on the stars and stripes flag.
- The same year, teachers admitted to develop the place of blacks and minorities in the teaching of history course. This is the beginning of the PC movement ("Politically Correct").
-The racial tensions are decreasing slowly.
-Civil Rights Movement had finally triumphed by applying the principles of non-violence.

Today, the Black people integration no longer raise any opposition even if they still suffer of an economic and social handicap.
